HKRI Care & Share Volunteers Create Silk-screen Pop Arts with Children
HKRI Care & Share, HKR International Limited’s (“HKRI”) corporate volunteer team, together with Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation (“HKYAF”), organised a silk-screen printing workshop for over 30 underprivileged children and teenagers serviced by International Social Service (Hong Kong Branch) (“ISS Hong Kong”) on 27 August 2016 (Saturday). It was a great opportunity for the participants, aged between 7 and 16, to learn about silk-screen printing and unleashed their creativity towards the end of the summer vacation.
Ms. Castaly Leung, artist from HKYAF, was invited to give an introduction on various printmaking techniques and to demonstrate the silk-screen printing procedures to all the participants. Volunteers then assisted the participants to try their hands at creating their own pieces of pop art. The vibrant and colourful pieces were indeed manifestations of the strong creativity and great artistry of the participants. HKRI Care & Share have also packed goodie bags with stationery to get them ready for the new study term.
ISS Hong Kong works closely with other ISS units around the globe in providing inter-country social work and cross border social services to needed children and families. It has established a strong reputation in serving migrants, divided families and cross border families as well as asylum seekers and refugees. HKYAF organises inclusive and inspirational projects that reach out to youngsters of all cultures, backgrounds, languages and abilities, and actively creates opportunities for those who are disadvantaged and underprivileged.
