HKR Care & Share Takes Underprivileged Children on a Fun-filled Tour of Ngong Ping & More

HKR Care & Share, HKR International Limited’s (“HKRI”) corporate volunteer team, has recently organised a tour entitled “Winter Outdoor Fun@Ngong Ping” for underprivileged children from the T.W.G.Hs Residential Child Care Services, taking them on a wonderful cable car journey and a trip to the Ngong Ping Village.

On a cool winter morning on 8 December 2012, HKR Care & Share volunteers accompanied about 25 children, aged between 4 and 12, to ride the cable cars to Ngong Ping Village. The children come from underprivileged families and some of them are in need of temporary care away from homes due to family problems or crises.

Most of the children had their first-ever cable car journey on Ngong Ping 360 and were fascinated by the novel experience and the spectacular views from the cable cars. They also toured around the culturally-themed Ngong Ping Village and visited various shops and attractions. Some of them, together with the volunteers, even climbed 268 steps to have a closer look of the Tian Tan Buddha statue nearby. Back in Ngong Ping Village, the children teamed up with the volunteers to compete in a series of exciting games exercising the body and mind, for fun and prizes. The half day tour ended with a warm and filling buffet lunch. Both the children and the volunteers fully enjoyed their time together.

HKR Care & Share volunteers treasured very much the opportunity to bring love and joy to the children, and will continue to reach out to the community by supporting various social service organisations and participating in volunteer activities.
