HKR Care & Share Volunteers Pay Home Visits to Singleton Elders at Mid-Autumn Festival

Sharing love and festive joy with the elders

HKR Care & Share, HKR International Limited’s (“HKRI”) corporate volunteer team, visited singleton elders, sending love and care at Mid-Autumn Festival. The home visits were organised in partnership with St. James’ Settlement (“SJS”).

Mr Victor Cha, Deputy Chairman & Managing Director of HKRI, together with about 40 HKR Care & Share volunteers, visited homes of singleton elders in Wan Chai on 30 August 2014 (Saturday). The volunteers not only brought with them fruits, food and daily necessities, but also their warm regards and care to the elderly before Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important festivals in the lunar calendar celebrating harmony and unity.

The elders are the service targets of the Wan Chai District Elderly Community Centre of SJS. During the visits, volunteers chatted with the elders to learn more about their daily lives. Everyone had a joyful time sharing laughter and happiness.

Mr Cha said, “These elderly people living alone are often being neglected in society. Still, they long for others’ love and companion. It is a valuable experience for us to have a chance to talk to them, listen to their stories, have a deeper understanding of singleton elders and let them know that there are people who care about them. HKR Care & Share, with the full support of the company, will continue to reach out to the needy.”
