HKRI Care and Share Volunteers and Children Give School a Facelift with Mural Painting

This year, HKR International Limited (“HKRI”) has come up with a new CSR theme – “All-in”, meaning that the activities to be held this year will be all inclusive and serve multiple purposes with no hold back. All activities aim to serve the needy, enhance environmental awareness and preserve local cultural heritage. “All-In” School Mural Painting Day marks the second CSR activity of the year. Our corporate volunteer team, HKRI Care & Share, Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong and students from Tsuen Wan Trade Association Primary School joined forces on 26 October to work on a mural painting of more than 460 square feet.

The activity received staunch support from HKRI management. Mr Jackie Tang, Executive Director, and Ms Lynda Ngan, Deputy Head of Group Finance, led more than 30 HKRI Care & Share volunteers to create the mural painting with students. With a theme of “Eco Living”, the painting aims at inspiring students to live a greener life by featuring various ways to conserve the environment and green energy solutions. “‘We Create a Lifestyle’ has long been HKRI’s mission and vision. We recognise the support the community has lent to us during our course of development, as such we attach great importance in investing in our community to shoulder our corporate social responsibility. Our corporate volunteer team, HKRI Care & Share, which was established in 2005, have a close affinity with community and contribute in various ways including in-kind sponsorships, donations, and charity sales and used item collection. The activity today is very meaningful that it promotes eco living and the painting is a total facelift for the walls! Our colleagues have also surprised me with their artistic sense. We will continue to organise different kinds of volunteer services and give back to the society,” said Mr Tang.

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global non-profit working in nearly 70 countries. Habitat works locally in Hong Kong, in mainland China and across the Asia-Pacific region, to help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Financial assistance and volunteers from Hong Kong have contributed to Habitat supporting more than 22 million people globally.
