HKRI Care & Share and Sovereign Art Foundation Collaborate to Create Sustainable Art Mural at Local School

HKR International Limited (“HKRI”) is proud to announce the successful collaboration between its corporate volunteer team, HKRI Care & Share, and the Sovereign Art Foundation (“SAF”), an international NGO dedicated to supporting art development. Together, they have created a captivating mural artwork at Buddhist Chi King Primary School, focusing on the themes of sustainability and renewable energy. Led by HKRI's Managing Director, Mr Jackie Tang, and Chief Financial Officer, Ms Lynda Ngan, the HKRI Care & Share volunteer team was joined by 24 students from Buddhist Chi King Primary School and SAF's Make It Better (“MIB”) programme to create this art piece.

The mural for this event was designed by Karen Pow, a Hong Kong-born artist specialising in mosaic and mural art. Her exceptional skill and artistic vision have led to numerous collaborations with children and prominent corporate entities. Her dedication to promoting creativity and supporting the arts resonates deeply with HKRI and SAF.

Mr Jackie Tang said, “HKRI Care & Share and SAF's partnership not only serves as a testament to our shared commitment to fostering community engagement and supporting art development but also highlights the importance of promoting sustainability. The mural artwork at Buddhist Chi King Primary School will serve as a vibrant reminder of these essential themes, inspiring students and the wider community to embrace a more sustainable future.”

“The remarkable contributions of Karen, our committed art therapy team, the beneficiaries, and the enthusiastic volunteers from our generous donors, HKRI, have truly made this experience extraordinary. Our belief in the transformative power of art is exemplified by this collaborative project, serving as a resounding testament to the positive change that art possesses. We are immensely grateful to be able to raise awareness of crucial environmental issues and promote the benefits of art,” noted Ms Mimi Tung, Head of Programmes and Lead Art Therapist of SAF.

This initiative builds upon HKRI's longstanding support of SAF's MIB programme, which aims to assist children from low-income backgrounds and those with special educational needs (“SEN”) in Hong Kong. MIB conducts expressive arts workshops in local schools and community centres, fostering self-esteem, confidence, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills for children aged 6-12. These workshops are led by creative arts therapists and experienced art facilitators, with support from social workers and volunteers. Moreover, MIB offers training and support to teachers, social workers, and caregivers of children with SEN, introducing them to the therapeutic benefits of art and promoting a culture of peer-to-peer support.
