HKR International Supports Earth Hour: Launching the “Walking Wonders” Walking Challenge to Protect Local Eurasian Otters

Embracing the concept of "We Create a Lifestyle", HKR International Limited ("HKRI") has always been driven by a vision and mission of sustainable development. For several years in a row, HKRI has actively participated in the Earth Hour event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature ("WWF"). This year, over 30 projects located in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Jiaxing, Hangzhou, Tokyo, and Bangkok will join together on 23 March at 8:30 pm to switch off non-essential lights in public areas. This gesture symbolises our concern for environmental and climate issues, as well as our support for a low-carbon lifestyle, as part of HKRI's commitment to practicing sustainability.

In addition to continuing its participation in Earth Hour, HKRI has launched the "Light OFF Power UP" series of activities since 2022. These initiatives aim to further promote sustainable concepts among employees and the community. This year's event, themed "Walking Wonders", encourages all employees to participate in a walking challenge from 18 to 23 March. By engaging in various sports and walking activities, employees take steps towards a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. HKRI will make a matching donation based on the total number of steps taken by employees to assist WWF in conserving the endangered Eurasian otters in Hong Kong and protecting the ecological environment.

Adhering to the corporate values of "Respect", HKRI remains committed to the principles of sustainable development while demonstrating care for employees and supporting the local community. We continuously strive to enhance our environmental, social, and governance ("ESG") practices. The flagship project of HKRI in Shanghai, HKRI Taikoo Hui, is a comprehensive commercial landmark that has been practicing sustainable business principles since its inception. Through measures such as facility improvements, supply chain coordination, and environmental initiatives, the project aims to create an urban space for green consumerism. Recently, the project achieved the highest level of Platinum certification under the LEED® v4.1 "Operation and Maintenance: Existing Buildings" category, which serves as recognition for its sustainable efforts. Additionally, several projects in Hong Kong, including CDW Building in Tsuen Wan and DB North Plaza, are actively increasing their use of renewable energy. These projects participate in the Feed-in Tariff Scheme by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and have installed renewable energy systems to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and decrease carbon emissions.

Looking ahead, HKRI will steadfastly implement various sustainable development measures, expand green operations through our projects, and strive to create a low-carbon and environmentally friendly lifestyle as we pursue the common goal of carbon neutrality.
