Opening Late 2012, Auberge Meets the Demands of Hong Kong’s Growing MICE Market
'Auberge, Discovery Bay Hong Kong', the deluxe 325-room resort opening late 2012, will offer a variety of premium facilities and engaging activities to cater to Hong Kong’s growing MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) market.
Recent figures from the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) reveal Hong Kong saw a 4.6 % increase in MICE visitors in the first quarter of 2012. During this three-month period, Hong Kong hosted over 70 large-scale MICE events and welcomed over 300,000 overnight MICE visitors.
"From January 2004 to January 2012, the number of Hong Kong hotels grew 90%, from 101 to 192," explains Auberge General Manager, Anne Busfield. “As Hong Kong’s MICE market expands, so too does the demand for quality hotels and multipurpose venues. Given our first-class facilities and unique setting, Auberge will be the destination of choice for event planners.”
Located on Lantau Island, just 25 minutes from the Hong Kong International Airport and AsiaWorld Expo, Auberge, Discovery Bay’s guests experience another side to Hong Kong. While MICE visitors can be in Hong Kong’s bustling Central district within 30 minutes, they can host events, conduct conferences or manage meetings at an idyllic seaside oasis.
A Variety of Venues:
Comprising over 1,300 m² of event space, Auberge, Discovery Bay Hong Kong can cater for functions of every size and type, from large-scale conferences and private parties to intimate gatherings and corporate meetings.
Grand Azure Ballroom: The aptly-named Grand Ballroom can accommodate over 570 guests for a sit-down banquet or 700 guests in a cocktail setting. Designed for ultimate luxury and optimum flexibility, planners can divide the expansive 700 m² pillar-free Ballroom into separate areas for smaller functions. For added convenience, an area at the rear of the Ballroom provides access for suppliers’ vehicles.
With its sweeping 7.8 m ceiling, modern décor and abundance of natural light, the Grand Azure Ballroom exudes a sophisticated style. A pre-function area measuring 160 m² also provides ample space and sea views. Step outside and an oceanfront terrace serves as a welcome retreat, offering guests cooling sea breezes and a relaxing alternative.
Function Rooms: Auberge’s first level is home to seven function rooms of varying sizes. Ranging from 32 m² to 295 m², the function rooms can host a variety of events: a cocktail function for up to 350 visitors, a banquet for 240 diners, or an intimate dinner for 12. Cleverly designed to welcome the natural daylight and take full advantage of the ocean views, the multipurpose spaces can also be adapted to a theatre, classroom or boardroom setting.
Outdoor Terraces: Beyond Auberge’s elegant function rooms and luxurious Grand Ballroom, the outdoor terraces also serve as ideal MICE venues. Boasting panoramic views over the South China Sea, the Café de la Mer terrace can welcome up to 217 guests for a cocktail function or corporate get-together.
Enticing Experiences:
Surrounded by nature, Auberge guests can take advantage of the greenery and choice of outdoor activities.
Discovery Bay 27-hole Golf Course: One of Southeast Asia’s premier golfing venues, players test their skills on three challenging courses. Ideal for corporate tournaments, the Discovery Bay Golf Course boasts rolling hills and stunning scenery, allowing guests to combine business with pleasure.
Hiking Trails: As a team-building exercise, guests can walk the uphill trail from Auberge to the nearby Lookout to enjoy spectacular views overlooking Discovery Bay. The more adventurous can opt for the two-hour walk to Mui Wo. Along the way, they encounter lush greenery, undulating terrain and century-old villages.
Aquatic Adventures: For the ultimate team-building exercise or corporate party, event planners can book a cruise on ‘The Bounty’, Hong Kong’s only European tall ship. Built for the Hollywood epic The Bounty, the 42m ship is a full-sized replica of the famous 18th century vessel, HMS Bounty. With its authentic masts, decking and sails, guests have the rare chance to sail the high seas. For further details, visit www.thebounty.com.hk
