D’Deck. Best Music. Best Taste.1, a regular monthly event of D’Deck, Hong Kong’s largest oceanfront alfresco dining hub, has been delighting and captivating diners since it was launched in 2010. In 2012, jazz music has echoed throughout the 20 seaside restaurants; and D’Deck. Best Music. Best Taste. will continue to bring enchanting live jazz music on the D’Deck waterfront promenade to whet your appetites.

D’Deck. Best Music. Best Taste. provides a wonderful opportunity for talented local bands to showcase their techniques and styles while sharing their music and enthusiasm with the Discovery Bay community, visitors and D’Deck patrons from 7pm to 9pm on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month. In the coming few months, D’Deck. Best Music. Best Taste. will feature two celebrated local bands to bring music lovers, especially Jazz fans, some of the most relaxing and best-loved jazz tunes: 

  •  The Victoria Jazz Band   1 & 2 September
                                          6 & 7 October
                                          3 & 4 November 2012
                    

  • The Deafaids                   1 & 2 December 2012

Both bands comprise veteran jazz musicians who are active in the local jazz scene. Their fantastic performance will definitely appeal to the audience and help create a sensational dining experience for you. (Please see Appendix for more information about the bands)

Introduction of Performing Bands

The Victoria Jazz Band (VJB)
Started at the famous Godown in Central in the 1970s, the VJB is Hong Kong’s longest-established swing jazz band with some of its members playing music together for more than 40 years. Today, the VJB is still one of the most respected and highly regarded swing jazz bands in town. It has been the supporting act for top international jazz stars at the Hong Kong International Jazz Festival, and has appeared at the Kobe, Osaka and Macau Jazz Festivals.

The Deafaids
The Deafaids’s music is characterised by its wonderfully grooving pulse and elastic, immersive phrasing. Led by Mr Peter Scherr, the Deafaids was one of the performing groups at the Hong Kong International Jazz Festival in 2011.  Mr Scherr has also performed widely in jazz and experimental music settings with many distinguished artists.
