“D’Deck Loving Christmas” Gift Sharing Campaign1 – spreading love to Tung Chung through Gift-giving
As part of Christmas traditions, children hang up Christmas stockings on Christmas Eve, hoping to find them filled with gifts by Santa; today, popular customs are often exchanging gifts with friends and family.  Nevertheless, a survey conducted by Green Sense* found that more than 60% of people had left unwanted gifts at home, 30% had left such gifts unused for at least three years, and 20% had ended up discarding these items.

To make the festival more meaningful and encourage the reduction of festive waste, D’Deck collaborates with local charity UniHeart to organize the “D’Deck Loving Christmas” from 30 November 2013 to 1 Janaury 2014.  The campaign aims to collect brand new or unused children’s books and toys (without missing pages and parts), pre-washed dolls and clothing as Christmas gifts for charity sales and as presents for the underprivileged community with all the gifts and proceeds going to UniHeart to support children and families in need in Tung Chung. D’Deck and UniHeart would also like to this opportunity to deliver the real meaning of gift donation is love sharing and blessing. To support the initative, D’Deck will be adorned with a giant Christmas stocking and glittering presents near the DB pier, to encourage everyone to join force to care for the community and to protect the environment.
