“White Day Romance for Senior Couples”, the first-of-its kind romantic event in Discovery Bay (“DB”), was held today where 22 senior couples tied the knot at a group wedding ceremony at the White Chapel, Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong (“Auberge DB”), celebrating their eternal love.
A total of 22 couples living in DB were drawn to the romantic event. The couples have a combined age ranging from 120 to 168 and all of them have been married for no less than 30 years. Throughout the years, love never fails and all enjoy blissful family lives. After the group wedding and prize presentation ceremony at the White Chapel, the couples proceeded to “Discovery Bay Love Lock Promenade” at DB North to attach love locks together. Senior couples who “set records” in DB were awarded one-night accommodation at the family suite of Auberge DB for a sweet holiday with their families.
With a combined age of 168 and married for 57 years, Mr & Mrs Chan Kwan Fat have raised as many as 26 children and grand-children, sweeping three prizes in total. “We both are thrilled about the opportunity to hold a wedding ceremony at the White Chapel. It’s also a splendid occasion to bring back fond memories of our over 50 years of marriage, and even more meaningful being witnessed by over 30 family members. Being the biggest winner is indeed a pleasant surprise for the whole family,” Mr Chan said excitedly.
DB is renowned for its low density residential developments and seaside resort destination. Over the past few years, new leisure amenities including DB North Plaza, Auberge DB and the White Chapel have been completed. Mr & Mrs Fung Kin Kwok, awarded “The Earliest Home Owner in Discovery Bay”, have seen how DB has evolved and become increasingly sophisticated. “We have been living in DB for 27 years since 1988. The efficient transport network and comprehensive leisure and recreational facilities provide us with ease and convenience. Plus, we are close with our neighbours whom we have known for years, making Discovery Bay our preferred home. Both of us, together with our friends here, enjoy participating in various community events sponsored by Hong Kong Resort, doing singing and dancing performances from time to time.
