The 1st Discovery Bay Open Water Race and Triathlon Challenge
All levels of athletes and swimmers are welcome
The inaugural Discovery Bay Open Water Race and Triathlon Challenge, organised by Open Water Series Hong Kong and titled sponsored by Hong Kong Resort Company Limited (Discovery Bay), will take place on 24 September 2023. The event has 4 race categories (open water swim, aquathon, duathlon and triathlon) and offers a variety of courses within Discovery Bay for individuals or teams of different age groups and ability levels to participate. Mika Yamaguchi, one of the medal winners from the World Aquatics Masters Championships 2023 Kyushu Competition in early August, will take part in the race.
Interested athletes are invited to participate in the following races:
- Individual Swim Races (400m, 1.7km and 3.8km are available)
- Family Swim Relay (400m)
- Aquathon Challenges (800m swim + 5.7km run) – available for individual and team competitions
- Duathlon Challenges (10km bike + 5.5km run) – available for individual and team competitions
- Triathlon Challenges (10km bike + 5.5km run + 400m swim) – available for individual, team and corporate team relay competitions
The starting points for different race categories include Tai Pak Beach, DB Plaza, and San Pak Wan in Discovery Bay, and the Pier of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, while Tai Pak Beach is the finishing point for all races. Participants of the races will be able to enjoy the stunning views of the Discovery Bay coastlines and the magnificent natural wonders dotted around this unique community.
The event aims to promote healthy living and camaraderie while offering an excellent opportunity to experience the unique lifestyle and picturesque landscape of Discovery Bay.
Online registration is now open via www.eventshorizons.com/2023-fdbc until 17 September. Prizes and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers. The fastest male and female swimmers of the 3.8km swim race will win a complimentary one-night accommodation with breakfast for two at Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong. And the fastest male and female athletes who cover the 3.8km swim race, Aquathon and Triathlon challenges will win the "Triple Crown Award."
