Discovery Bay (“DB”) is an integrated resort-style residential community and also Hong Kong’s first “Eco-friendly Community.” Developed by Hong Kong Resort Company Limited (“HKR”) for over 40 years, DB recently unveiled its 2.0 blueprint, aiming to enhance the brand and facilities, creating a more liveable community for residents and offering refreshing experiences for visitors. The initial projects under the 2.0 blueprint include brand promotion and pier renovation works, setting the stage for future developments.

 

Central Pier No. 3, often considered the gateway to DB, has been revitalised with improved ventilation, and enhanced natural light, creating a spacious visual environment. Meanwhile, the pier has adopted wooden tones and added two large green walls that harmonise with the surrounding sky and ocean, connecting DB’s natural ambiance with the pulse of the city. This aligns with Discovery Bay’s consistent focus on environment, allowing passengers to feel the unique charm of DB from the moment they wait for the ferry in the urban area.

 

Furthermore, the pier incorporates LED lighting and grade 1 water-efficient devices, reflecting DB’s commitment to environmental protection. The same design principles have been applied to the DB Pier as well. These enhancements not only improve the functionality of both piers but also create a more pleasant environment. Both piers have now completed renovations and are ready to provide passengers with an enhanced travel experience.

 

DB has recently launched a new brand campaign titled “Live to Discover.” The campaign aims to attract millennials, young couples, and newly formed families, showcasing the relationship between the new generation and DB as they navigate life’s stages.

 

This promotional campaign vividly portrays various phases related to DB – young people gathering to explore DB, enjoying companionship and participating in festive celebrations during different holidays; couples creating beautiful memories in DB’s romantic ambiance; and families settling down and making homes in DB.

 

Through engaging storytelling and dynamic visuals, the campaign highlights Discovery Bay as a distinctive community with a unique lifestyle, emphasising the close connections it fosters among diverse population.

DB North is currently constructing a brand-new residential project, adding a gross floor area of over 1.3 million square feet. This development will offer more than 1,400 residential units, creating a comfortable and modern living environment. Notably, the project includes a newly built Central Park, which will serve as an ideal space for residents’ leisure, recreation, and social activities. Within this spacious green area, residents can take leisurely walks, engage in physical activities, and connect with neighbours, while enjoying the pleasant and serene atmosphere of green living spaces.

 

The first batch of residential units is expected to be launched in 2024. This project embodies our commitment to housing quality and community development. It not only provides modern housing options but also creates a green, harmonious, and desirable community environment, enhancing residents’ living experience.

 

To further facilitate passengers’ travel, DB has implemented a series of measures to enhance transportation services. Firstly, the ferry service has added a stop at DB North on Sundays, making it easier for passengers to travel between DB North and the city centre. Additionally, the airport bus route now includes a drop-off and pick-up point at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port, providing convenient transportation options for passengers commuting to and from the Greater Bay Area. These transportation service improvements not only enhance connectivity but also increase accessibility to Discovery Bay, allowing more people to effortlessly enjoy its scenic beauty and lifestyle pleasures. 

 

DB boasts four upscale clubs: Discovery Bay Recreation Club, Club Siena, Discovery Bay Golf Club, and Lantau Yacht Club. HKR has planned a phased upgrade of facilities across these clubs, aiming to enhance their quality and amenities. Notably, the renovation project at Club Siena is already underway, promising improved facilities, superior services, and a more comfortable leisure environment for members. The club is expected to unveil its fresh new look by 2025.

 

To further consolidate the leading position of various leisure brands in DB, the Discovery Bay Ice Rink will host more international competitions, including figure skating, ice hockey, and speed skating. These events will not only provide local athletes with more opportunities to compete but also facilitate mutual exchange among athletes within the region. Additionally, the Lantau Yacht Club (“LYC”) will continue organising high-end boat shows, showcasing the premium facilities and services offered by LYC to a broader audience of yacht enthusiasts.

 

DB is committed to maintaining a balanced retail mix within the community and actively introduces various restaurants and retail outlets to meet the needs of residents. Some new additions include Liang She Han Buy Good, DBrasserie, Dough Bros, JOO Korean Grill & Bar, MOOJOO Lifestyle Café, ONA, Pasha, Pho Bay and The Chippy, further solidifying DB’s reputation as an international culinary hub.

 

HKR is currently developing a brand-new recreational facility near DB Reservoir. This facility will continue DB’s consistent image of environmental consciousness, proximity to nature, and vibrancy, aligning with DB’s longstanding commitment to environmental preservation and respect for the natural surroundings and offering a range of amenities and activities. The design and construction of the facility will prioritise ecological sustainability. Additionally, it will seamlessly blend into the surrounding natural landscape, providing a leisure space connected to nature

 

This new integrated recreational facility will offer a diverse range of leisure and recreational options for DB residents and the public.

 

HKR has consistently focused on improving the environment in DB. Recently, the waterfront promenade adjacent to DB Pier was repaved, providing residents and visitors with an enhanced recreational space. Additionally, plans are underway to introduce thematic decorations that further beautify the environment, adding a touch of uniqueness and aesthetics to DB’s public spaces. Furthermore, the Central Park now features brand-new children’s play facilities, ensuring that kids have more fun.

 

These measures under the DB 2.0 blueprint will create a better community environment, enhancing comfort and satisfaction for residents and visitors alike. They also underscore HKR’s ongoing commitment to developing DB into a more liveable and enchanting residential haven.
