The Sixth Project of “HKRI Love & Design CSR Programme” Unveiled

The sixth project of the “HKRI Love & Design CSR Programme”, Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital, which was jointly launched by the Group and China Social Welfare Foundation’s Design with Love in Shanghai, was a success and unveiled on 11 October.

This project involved the upgrade of the common area on the second floor of the hospital’s paediatric rehabilitation facility, spanning 182 sq. m. The space provides rehab services to over 200 children with special needs daily, including those with autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy. Mr. Liang Jing, Associate Head of the Department of Media Communication at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, led a team of postgraduate students and rehab specialists to transform the idle “grey zone” into a multimedia-based interactive learning environment featuring traffic simulations. Through gamified training, children can enhance their crisis awareness and social interaction skills.

The unveiling ceremony was officiated by Mr. Zhan Chengfu, Chairman of China Social Welfare Foundation; Mr. Dai Guangming, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation; Ms. Connie Ting, the Group’s General Manager of Leasing & Management and Joint General Manager of HKRI Taikoo Hui; and Mr. Mike Wang, General Manager of Business Development & Marketing. Distinguished guests including Ms. Zhai Hua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital; Ms. Tina Ma, President of Shanghai Design with Love Public Service Agency; and Mr. Liang Jing, were present to witness the unveiling ceremony.

On the day of the unveiling ceremony, the HKRI Care & Share volunteer team, comprising staff members from the Group, The Sukhothai Shanghai, HKRI Taikoo Hui, and Shanghai property River One, facilitated an inclusive engagement activity for children with special needs from over 20 families. The gamified experience enhanced children’s hand-eye coordination and fostered meaningful social integration.

With the aim of supporting the education development and growth of children and adolescents, six projects have been implemented in four cities, including Shanghai, Jiaxing, Haining and Hong Kong, successfully transforming an area of over 19,100 sq. m into spaces that have benefited thousands of children and their families.
